im here! it's 5 am sunday morning (saturday afternoon for all the rest of you suckers), and i am WIDE AWAKE. so here are some fun facts!
KOREA
good news:
justin is here! yay! and he is hairy and beardy just like i like him. he has been very sweet and supportive, buying lots of plants to make the place feel homey, and bringing me glasses of lychee juice when i ask.
fermented cabbage everywhere...it has already grown on me, although i think it makes me smell different
on that note actually ALL the food has been delicious. this blog might convert again soon to a food blog like the last time i was in asia. so far we have had kim bap, which is like sushi but with cooked fish (yay!), donkas, which are breaded things in sweet brown sauce, and seolsongtang (sp?) which is a LOT like pho but with rice instead of noodles. yum!
they also have a wide variety of interesting, almost western food here, like elderflower sorbet! mmm.
also justin says maybe we can get a hedgehog. wee!
bad news:
ugh i can't sleep through the nights! it is hot as crap here and humid and sticky, and you know when you're trying to sleep but it is just HOT and everywhere you turn it is still HOT and you can't sleep because it's so dang HOT?? add jet lag and a tension headache to that and it's like that. luckily, i can always sleep on the nice, cooling linoleum floor. good for the back too.
hm i dont think i will ever be as cute as these hello kitty faced korean girls. rats.
it. is. HOT! and a little smoggy. for a city it is pretty green, and i think i will be able to find a nice running route through the parks and hills. but it is still a city with lots of cars and smog. boo.
just plain weird stuff:
my toothpaste tastes like pine
and i can do this: 너ㅏㅁ오로어니ㅏㄴ머ㅏ낭ㄴwhenever i want to. what'd i just say? WHO KNOWS?

I would like to try pinetree flavored toothpaste. I am afraid that it wouldn't taste as good as pinetrees smell.

Yeah you've got some stuff they don't have, so don't you worry about those hello kitty girls. Food! Hedgehogs! KOREA!!!! this sounds amazing.
