i had three potential titles for this post: our lady of chocolate, dont trust the zapotec man in short shorts, and anna: pig in the city. i will now explain.
our lady of chocolate = oaxaca = most delicious city ever! oh my land. for two days everything i ate was made of chocolate, whether salty rich chocolate moles on chicken and chips or obviously sweet brownie batter texture freshly ground cocoa butter or frothy creamy milky drinks or chocolate cinnamon almond bitter hot drinks. oh my crap. my mouth is watering just thinking about it. i still have two big hunks of raw chocolate in the fridge at home. ive been hacking off chunks every day. yay oaxaca!
ok part two, zapotec man. when in oaxaca we went to monte alban, big beautiful ancient city of zapotec ruins. cool! symmetrical! really good energy! we were walking around a pyramid when this strange old man in short purple shorts approached us and asked if we had gone in the tomb yet. we were like, tomb? so he took us around behind the pyramid and into this cool little underground place where he explained about burial rituals and ball games and flowers of purity, skulls, and jaguar heads. some awesome crap. however, while explaining ball gamer costumes, he demonstrated on me and totally violated my area of personal space. ahem. nothing seriously drastic, but shook me up! nasty old man. but i guess i know about zapotecs now.
ok and number three, anna pig in the city. today i went for a big walk by myself around tehuacan. i know that doesnt sound very impressive, but one of the weird things about being married is how seldom you do things on your own. and since justin is tall, and a boy, and speaks spanish, he does most of the walking and talking around here. but today i went off on my own for a bit and it was most refreshing. being married. what a change.
mexico mexico!

You are a laugh and a half. First of all, isn't Oaxaca wonderful?!! I absolutely loved the big wide open valley with the hill and temple complex on top. It reminded me of Utah Valley. Fresh air, also. You did not mention Mitla. Those are some interesting ruins on the far end of the valley.
As for the chocolate. You are sounding a bit gluttonous. Have fun! I want some too!
And may I ask where Justin was when this man was molesting you? You two, do strange things like meeting odd old men, wearing purple shorts, in a Zapotec tomb. I guess you are losing your innocence in foreign countries!!!!
Be careful, Anna Roo. I am independent also, but there are some snakes out there in the world. (Justin, you are good at seeing snakes. Guard that girl!!!)
remember that book in elementary school about the boy with the chocolate touch.
Be careful anna, that boy may soon turn in to you.
i'll be honest, i did start to salivate at the thought of all that chocolate! so jealous!!
