need advice

another post for the day.

so there is this cat that i have met. she is cute. she is not wanted in her home (the person who brought her home split and left the burden of her care on those who didn't sign up for it...not her fault, but she's not particularly wanted there). it's starting to look like the Humane Society for her.

i live in my mother's basement. she has agreed to let me bring the cat home to stay on the condition that it would be MY cat and not HER cat. this is generous of her. but it makes things complicated because i dont know where i will be in six months. moving stresses a cat, and staying in one place stresses justin!

so what do i do? do i leave her at the house and let events run their course, where she'll probably end up at the pound? do i take her home and hope that someone will want her within the next six months (seems like if they don't want her now they might not ever, and i might just end up having to take her to the pound anyway)? do i take her home and try to keep her, moving her around the country and possibly around the world with us?

need advice!

I say take the kittycat, 6 months ought to be enough time for either 1) you to find another home
2) your mom to fall in love with kittycat and decide to keep it.

Also, maybe this cat is good at traveling too? Or perhaps Justin's gma's house could use a good mouser?

that was an suggestion-packed comment.

you are right about moving stressing a cat...when my family moved our cat tried to find our old home and never came back and I have heard that happens a lot. I would try to find a place for it to go that is more permanent so it doesn't get confused. I will let you know if I find anyone interested!!! p.s. I LOVED seeing you the other day. It made me so happy! I just miss you!

Grayling and Fatso did not like moving out here in the car. Actually, Fatso was mellow. Grayling was freaked. But once they got here, and we made sure that we kept food out on the deck for them, they stuck around and did fine. The only thing that shortened Fatso's life was that in the woods here in Michigan, there are all kinds of terrors...raccoons, apossoms, deer, and birds that sound like cats. The Michigan winters were tough on Fatso, as he did not like going in the garage. Three yrs. of that and Fatso is a gonner. Grayling likes to spend her days in the house, and her nights in the garage, so she does fine.

Grandma Fletcher's house is no longer available, as Uncle Tom owns it.

Kitty's are fun, but you do need to seriously think about paying for the rabies vaccination. Will she be an indoor or outdoor cat? Or both, as ours usually have been?

Animals are nice.
