and you know, i think stephenie meyer gets in there too.
gosh what fun we would have.

What about Lucy Maude Montgomery?
hm you know i never read anne of green gables...so she's on the maybe list :)
I did not read them until I was good and old....when Alden was a baby. There are some delightful things in there, and a nice slice of history...or the feel of a slice of history. There are actually 6 in the series of Anne of Green Gables. The last one deals with what happened to her children. It was quite interesting. I ended up reading alot of Lucy Maude Montgomery's other series and books, and a partial autobiography of hers. The Emily series was delightful. It was a romance like alot of her stuff is, but it was interesting because even though everything was soooo simple, it was much more romantic that our lusty literature today. A simple, clean, sincereness that is missing in so much of what we read now. But there was the dorky side, where alot went unsaid, because women were not supposed to initiate anything. Way too much waiting around and not having anything happen simply due to some awkward social norms. You would not like that part of it. It was very fun though to get a feeling of what it was like back around the turn of the century and before.
It is delightfully fun to share the experience of college girls who get excited about the latest treat.....raisins!
There is some very fun humor in the books also.
Add to your list Harriet Tubman, and the author of "Uncle Tom's Cabin." That lady is impressive.
