last night i dreamed that i went toe to toe in a fight with the queen spider mite who is trying to eat my daisies. there ARE no queen spider mites, but in the dream if i could defeat her i could defeat them all! she was actually fairly reasonable though, and once she realized that she wasn't supposed to eat my gerber daisy she was ashamed of herself.
it really is kind of disturbing how much my plants preoccupy me. i was given an impatiens to grow for my birthday in january. well, a week or two ago i knocked it off the shelf (taking down christmas lights...har har) and it spilled everywhere, so i panicked and re-planted it in the garden. only then it dumped two tons of snow on utah! one stem was totally fried and reduced to slimy green rubble, the other lost its leaves but stayed standing. through the intermittent snow showers of the past week i have tried to protect it with a flower pot, but now im worried its not getting any light!
bored yet? everyone i tell this story to's eyes glaze over (that grammar is fine)! but i think about it ALL THE TIME!!!
im learning to sew. im going to sew myself a new baking apron. this, to me, is very exciting.
also: two new hot spots in provo i can't recommend highly enough: Pennyroyal cafe. yesterday i had a brie and apple sandwich there whose substantial deliciousness was actually outstripped by the deliciousness of their SIDE SALAD, which had greens and brown sugar and some kind of apple streusel thing on top.
downside: loud cello band playing dissonant, modern music drowning out conversation. would have been ok if i was there on my own, but i was there with friends and we wanted to TALK. which is why we went to:
SPARK. conveniently across the street from pennyroyal, they serve virgin fancy drinks. i had a mango mojito and a lycheetini, along with some pannacotta and kiwi pearls (all this was under $10). now before all you people who drink real drinks start to laugh at provo pretensions, this place was seriously awesome/delicious. and i think you should all try it, except none of you live in provo.

you can talk to me about plants any time! I'm actually struggling with some bamboo and your every day houseplant. They are randomly wilting. Also I have 5 more buds on my orchids and I'm pretty sure by the time i come home today one of them will start to open! -oh the conversations we could have!
my coworker is going to teach me to crochet tomorrow, i am very excited about this as well.
THAT BRIE & Apple sammy sounds DIVINE! citrus grill has a brie and mango chutney that is AMAZING!

I remember someone saying they didn't like the Pennyroyal cafe because its the name of a form of abortion. When I was confirming that just now I came across an article about animal abortion. People who breed their dogs get abortions for them if they've mated with an "undesirable" dog. That is so weird to me.
a friend of mine owns the cafe and the band...i love both, and and super into supporting small buisnesses. however, the cafe smells old and funny. a small price to pay for some really good food. have you had the soup!?
A lycheetini definitely sounds interesting.

jeanne: i thought so too but I was surprised at how much better the mango mojito was. both places are down on university avenue, maybe we can go to one or the other when you are in town!
